Clothing Industry: Sustainability and Technology: A Tool for Defining the Future
The Clothing Industry is in the process of drastic change as sustainability and technological solutions reshape its frameworks. Sustainable practices are however rising across brands as more and more incorporate the use of organic and recycled materials, employing technology that reduces the use of water in dyeing garments and Liz Claiborne’s circular system of production that has cut their impact on the natural environment. For design forecasting, AI is emerging as a game changer while for prototyping, 3D printing and for supply chain transparency, blockchain is widely used and they are enhancing efficiency and building consumer confidence. The developments that have occurred in conveying electronics include apparels and garments that are smart and integrated, beacons, health performance wear, and UV protective wear, which enhance the industry’s novelty to fashion alone. Yet trends in global trade are also changing now, and manufacturers are also looking to spread risks across supply chains, and looking at ways to near-source to shorten lead times. While consumers are now promoting sustainability in fashion by patronizing second-hand clothes, renting outfits or making ethical purchases. In addressing the changes, the Clothing Industry exhibits flexibility and creativity in preparations for the new environment to be a more sustainable technology-based economy.
